Decentralized applications (dApps) are software applications that run on a blockchain network instead of centralized servers. The backend logic is in smart contracts; the frontend can be traditional web technology. dApps are censorship-resistant, transparent, and have no single point of failure. They are the interface layer for interacting with blockchain protocols — DeFi platforms, marketplaces, games, governance tools.
